Speaking in Katangi Syokisinga secondary school on Friday, the board of management's chairperson Ambrose Munyasya termed the incident as an accident stating that no one should be held responsible.

"We have heard some leaders call for the investigation of the school principal and some teachers, I tend to differ with them. The drowning was an accident and shouldn't be used by unscrupulous people to gain political mileage," Munyasya said.

Kenya Union of post-primary education teachers executive secretary, Machakos County branch, Musembi Katuku said the three teachers who got arrested shouldn't carry the cross of a crime they are not culpable of.

Katuku said they will hold talks between the Teachers Service Commission and security agents to ensure the teachers who were arrested are released.

His sentiments were echoed by the Kenya National Union of teachers secretary, Yatta sub-county branch, Kasimba Ngui who said the three teachers' arrests has caused more problems.

"Two wrongs don't make a right, it has happened and we can't change it at all. Let's move forward," Ngui said.
