The motorists mainly Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators lauded the regulatory body saying it is a relief to them during this hardest month.

"We will buy Super Petrol at Sh106.61 while Diesel will be retailing at Sh104.82. At least ERC has sympathized with us by dropping fuel prices since the increased VAT was imposed," said David Mogesa, a Nissan Matatu driver plying Kisii-Kilgoris route.

Ezekiel Ondigo plying Kisii-Mosocho route insisted that the regulatory body should stick to the new prices for at least 3 months.

"We have spent thousands of shillings to fuel vehicles since the government imposed huge VAT on petroleum products. I wish to urge ERC to ensure the prices are not hiked for the next three months," noted Ondigo.

Dominic Bosire, a driver plying Kisii-Sirare route said PSVs may drop bus fare for the time fuel will be retailing at low prices.

"Passengers will also pay less because ERC has seen mercy on us. It is our hope as motorists that the prices of petrol will not hike on February 15," noted Bosire.
