National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has yet again hit out at Mt Kenya leaders, accusing them of being dishonest with their resistance towards change of government structure.
On Sunday, Duale had called for total overhaul of Presidential system, arguing that it had created inequality in all systems within the country.
Mr Duale also accused Mt Kenya leaders of dominating Kenyan politics since independence, adding that there was need to reevaluate the current system.
But his remarks were met with opposition and condemnation, a move that saw Moses Kuria threaten to have him ousted from his seat.
“Since Duale is already positioning himself to be comptroller of State House in 2022, there is no way he wants any change in the architecture of the presidency as it is. So, my friend, we know your handwriting,” he said.
In an interview on Monday, Duale maintained that Mt Kenya leaders are insincere, arguing that other communities have been disadvantaged since independence.
According to him, population and size should count, thus the push to have a Parliamentary system of government. He said presidential system breeds corruption.
"My colleagues are insincere. Let population and size count for equity. If they want more constituencies, deliminatation should be done fairly. We have to discard the current system," he said.
"That's why President Uhuru Kenyatta thought that the precedent that was being set was not good for Kenya and the economy thus the BBI," he added.
According to him, since independence, small tribes have remained marginalized at the expense of bigger tribes, making it difficult to achieve transparency and accountability.
He said presidential system also promotes chaos, adding that at Parliamentary level, people cannot fight for certain leaders to come to power.
