The Deputy President William Ruto on Friday was in Kiambu County, not for the swearing-in ceremony of Dr James Nyoro but for other business.
The country's second in command laid the foundation stone for a dormitory project at Chania Girls High School.
He later on commissioned classrooms at Thika Girls High School in Kiambu County.
"Laid the foundation stone for a dormitory at Chania Girls High School and commissioned classrooms at Thika Girls High School, Thika, Kiambu County, " the deputy president wrote on Twitter on Friday.
DP Ruto was accompanied by the Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria.
Earlier in the day, Ruto was in Langata Constituency where he laid the foundation stone for the Lang’ata Technical and Vocational Training.
His visit to Kiambu came against the backdrop of Dr James Nyoro taking the oath of office after the impeachment of Ferdinand Waititu.
Mr Waititu is widely seen as a close ally of the deputy president.
Dr James Nyoro is closer to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
Nyoro voiced his support for the ODM candidate in the KIbra by-election Imran Okoth as opposed to the governing Jubilee's McDonald Mariga.
