TV journalist Jacque Maribe has been sent to Lang’ata Women prison by Justice Jesse Lessit.
Maribe will be held at the facility until Monday morning when she will appear in court again to take a plea.
While at Lang’ata, Maribe will also undergo a mental assessment at Matheri Hospital to establish if she is fit to face the charges.
Maribe’s Lawyer Kagwa Kigen tried to intervene and have the judge reduce the time she will stay behind bars before plea taking but Justice Lessit stayed put.
Her co-accused Joseph Irungu will also be detained at the Industrial Area police station.
The two lovers are being charged with the murder of Monica Kimani who was killed on September 19.
The two will appear in court on Monday, October 15.
Earlier, it was an emotional moment on Tuesday morning as TV journalist Jacque Maribe and her lover Joseph Irungu alias Jowie were arraigned in court.
Sitting at the dock, Maribe was overwhelmed by emotions and could be spotted shedding tears.
As her lawyer Katwa Kigen whispered to her ears, the ex-news anchor could be seen wiping tears off her cheeks.
The moment was the same as her mother hugged her and possibly consoled her; Maribe’s eyes were watery, heavy with tears!
