On Tuesday, Deputy President William Ruto hosted leaders from the African Divine Church and urged them to form and join Sacco's to benefit from government funding.
Speaking at his Karen residence where he hosted over 4000 ADC leaders, Ruto said the church with its members should consider mobilising resources to improve their economic status through Saccos.
"We know as members of the clergy you do not get enough money like other Kenyans. To help you, you should come up with a programme of raising funds and later take loans when in need," he said.
He also noted that Saccos in Kenya have raised Sh500 billion and asked the Divine church to join in the mobilisation of local resources through Saccos so that the nation can fund its development.
The African Divine Church of Kenyan pastors who paid Ruto a visit asked him and other political leaders not to turn away from participating in the development of churches despite intense opposition from a section of leaders.
MP's who accompanied DP Ruto include Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Alice Wahome (Kandara), Mwambu Mabonga (Bumula), Mary Wamaua (Maragua), Malulu Injendi (Malava), Nixon Korir (Lang'ata), Bernard Shinali (Ikholomani), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), John Waluke (Sirisia) and former Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale.
