Speaking on Milele FM on Wednesday, Sifuna supported the party disciplinary committee's recommendation that the duo be expelled from the party. He said a by-election is necessary for them to join their favourite political outfits.

“They have shown their desire to join William Ruto. This is making us ask the electorate to choose other leaders,” Sifuna said.

When questioned why the party has picked the coastal MPs, Sifuna said that ODM is just fulfilling their wish to join Deputy President William Ruto's camp. He refuted claims that they were emulating the spirit of the handshake between ODM party leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"We are fulfilling their wish to join the other team and I do not think that our party leader Raila Odinga informed their decision. They have been misusing the handshake to violet party decisions,” he responded.

Sifuna stated that Raila’s party was acting in accordance with the law that regulates political parties and accused Jumwa of violating party directives.

“There is no place in the MOU between Raila and Uhuru where one is allowed to support ideologies of other parties,” he stated.
