Haji on Monday ordered for the arrest of National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, among others including NEMA boss George Wakhungu.

Speaking in Nakuru on Monday hours after the arrest of the dam scandal suspects, the Bungoma Senator praised the DPP for taking the major move, saying that there is a need for suspects to be subjected to the law regardless of their positions.

“To win the war against graft, we must fight it without looking at the positions of power the accused persons hold in government. The DPP should crack the whip on all suspects linked to the dams' scandal based on their involvement," he said.

Wetangula termed graft a major threat to the nation, stressing on the need for each and every Kenyan to join the reignited fight against the menace.

He called on the DPP to ensure that all the suspects are not given any special treatment but treated like anyone else.

“The constitution is clear that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. If there is any evidence indicating that the persons mentioned by the DPP transgressed the law in their capacity, they should be charged accordingly," he said.

The suspects are accused of flouting procurement laws before awarding Italian firm CMC Di Ravenna the tenders, after which Sh17 billion was reportedly approved and paid without any work done.
