Nearly two months after the census 2019 exercise, the report has been released.
Announcing the contents of the report on Monday at State House in Nairobi, the director-general of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, Zachary Mwangi, pointed out that a total of 47,564,296 million people were enumerated in the exercise conducted in August this year.
He also noted that the majority of the population were women at 24,014,716 million, while men were 23,548,056 million.
The report also noted that 1,524 inter-sex people were enumerated.
According to K24 Digital, the function was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta among various Cabinet secretaries including Interior CS, Fred Matiangi, ICT CS, Joe Mucheru, CS Ukur Yattani, PS Kibicho among others.
Uhuru thanked Kenyans for making the exercise successful.
“It was the first of a kind in our history. We fully embrace the use of technology in the exercise. The mobile devices used in the census were assembled by our local universities and the data management software created by our own KNBS,” said President Kenyatta as quoted by K24 Digital.
The head of state said that KNBS will release the full report to Kenyans and other stakeholders.
“So, therefore, we direct all ministries and departments to utilize these results, including counties and development partners,” said the Head of State as quoted by K24 Digital.
He thanked KNBS for their good work.
