Waititu claimed that Nyoro has been sacking workers inhumanely adding that some of the workers are on contract.

The deputy governor took control of Kiambu's government affairs after the court barred Waititu from accessing the county office until the corruption cases facing him are heard and determined.

According to Waititu, the sacking of workers has led to the suffering of many families.

Speaking during the burial of a county contractor in Kiambu, Waititu asked the county residents to pray that the corruption case against him is concluded and he returns to office saying that all those sacked will be reinstated.

“All I am asking from you is prayers. I want the case to end. I feel bad when I hear people being sacked. Once I come back to the office, I will reinstate all of them,” said Waititu as quoted by the-star.co.ke.

In August this year, hundreds of workers stormed county government offices to demand their pay after they were sacked by Nyoro.

The workers who included casuals and enforcement officers were demanding seven months’ pay.

In the graft case, Waititu together with his wife Susan Wangari Ndung’u, six other Kiambu County officials and a businessman are being charged over Sh588 million irregular tender.
