The new project will boost the lives of livestock farmers not only from Narok county but also the entire nation upon its completion.

According to Statehouse Spokesperson Kanze Dena, the project will take three years before it is completed. The contract of the project has already been awarded to Ewaso Ngiro South Development Authority (ensda).

The tannery will boast of 4,000-ton capacity when it starts to operate. The government has also said that the project will offer jobs to different groups of people both directly and indirectly when it starts running.

“On August 2, President will preside over the official opening of the 4,000-ton capacity leather complex developed by ensda set to create 300 direct jobs and over 5,000 indirect jobs,“read the statehouse press release, as quoted by Standard.

Area County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti has appealed to the residents in the region to take advantage of the project so that they can transform their lives.

He said that the livestock farmers in the past felt neglected but the project shows there is light at the end of the tunnel.

He also lauded the government for remembering the plight of livestock farmers as Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, continues with the implementation of the Big Four agenda.
