The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has confirmed that no police officer will be subjected to public vetting anymore.
Speaking at dog section in Section 58, NPSC Chair Eliud Kinuthia said that owing to huge complains from the police officers that their rights as employees were heavily violated, the commission will instead subject them to internal vetting on-demand basis.
"We have listened to them, we have heard their concerns over the way the vetting was done in full view of the cameras, sometimes asked personal questions, as a commission, we don't want to do that again, we are considered of their plight and as such we are reforming the process", Kinuthia said.
He also said that 300 officers whose fate was not discharged by the previous commission will be given a second chance to serve since no one was convicted of any offence.
"They have been living in dilemma over their fate, we want to start our work since our appointment going forward because they were vetted and no one was found fit or unfit to serve," added the NPSC chair.
During the reign of former chairman Johnstone Kavuludi, hundreds of police officers across the country were subjected to public vetting that led to the sacking of several who were found unfit to hold public office.
