President Uhuru Kenyatta will still visit Gusii region next week despite a terror attack that rocked Nairobi on Tuesday in which 14 people died on spot, State House has confirmed.
North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko says the President notified Nyamira and Kisii Counties of his trip that will also involve ODM leader Raila Odinga, who enjoys massive support from the region.
"The President talked with the leadership on Tuesday when we were undergoing the ordeal and said he will come. So nothing has changed and preparations are underway.
"I have also spoken to some organisers in State House and they have said everything is intact. We shall seize the opportunity and preach peace," said the first term legislator.
In his address on Wednesday, Uhuru asked Kenyans to 'get back to work', adding that security forces will bring to book all those involved in financing the act.
At Kisii on Tuesday, Governor James Led a host of leaders from the region where the president's trip was first made public after days of speculations.
"The president is coming to Gusii. He will be here on January 23rd and 24th and we shall preach unity today. We remain unbowed and in total support on the war against terrorism."
