Sunday's endorsement of youthful banker Luthers Mokua for chairperson FKF in Nyamira was after all expected given his commitment to revamp the game.
In his speech FKF South Nyanza boss Yobesh Mose asked the youthful NIC Operating Manager to showcase his leadership skills once elected in devolved FKF poss next year.
For the first time, FKF shall have county wide leadership as opposed to regional arrangement which has been used for ages. The polls are due December this year.
"Don't let us down. From the bottom of my heart, I will back you. This people have given you a chance. It's you to showcase that you're the right person," Yobesh said.
Since last year, the youthful banker has pitched tent in Nyamira, causing confusions among politicians and county government workers, who are unsure about his next move.
One worker admitted that Mr Mokua's revolutionary approach to sports could in the long run expose those stealing money allocated for the sport in the county.
"His continued support to local teams is badly exposing the system. A number of them have been working in an opaque manner. They are concerned over his approach," he said in confidence.
In the past interview, a county executive wondered about the future plans of Mr Mose, arguing that he could use the approach to run for a top county seat.
"By the way, what does he want? Is he running for any political seat? I don't think someone could be using his resources just to promote such activities without political ambitions," he said.
Last year, Mr Mokua, with the budget of around Sh1 million, was able to successfully run a tournament dubbed Luthers Mokua Super Cup.
Since then, he has sponsored several clubs and stakeholders to run a systematic County League, which has seen football take new shape in the region.
On Sunday, Mr Mokua who is campaigning under #ChangeTheStory, witnessed River Plate women team qualify for Division One at Riamoni.
"We want to give youths opportunities to showcase talents. We are not in competition with anyone. That's our intention and must be understood as such," he said.
Born in Gesima, Mr Mokua is also one of the faces behind newly promoted Wazito FC, which is now playing at the Kenya Premier League.
Over the weekend, he questioned the county government of Nyamira's commitment towards completing Manga stadium, which has stalled despite allocation of Sh137 million.
"There were technical hitches which have since been solved. The construction is now ongoing and the work shall be completed soon," County Secretary Eric Onchana said.
