Kisii County Woman Representative Janet Ongera has once again declared her backing for the proposed constitutional changes under the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking on Thursday, the lawmaker called upon Kenyans to do the same, terming the BBI the right way to go, judging by its proposals.
She observed that if implemented, the BBI will change the lives of Kenyans at the lowest levels by among others, taking care of their interests and enhancing gender balance.
“The proposals in the BBI report can change our people’s lives, promote gender balance and will take care of the interests of many, including the youth and people living with disabilities. Once implemented, it will change lives, right up to the grassroots,” she told Citizen Digital.
On his part, Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri said the BBI will enrich the nation's well being.
He called upon Kenyans to rally behind President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, who are the BBI founders, as they lead the push to realize the changes.
"We should stand firm in supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in this worthwhile initiative. The two leaders have shown us that we can live in harmony if we choose to," he said.
Kisii County will today host the first BBI regional popularisation forum, bringing together leaders from all the 6 counties of Nyanza.
