The family led by Mukhtar father, Aden Muktar claim that there is a plot to cover up the case.

Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Monday, the family said that the death of a key suspect in the case is suspicious.

Through their lawyer Charles Kanjama, the family has accused the police of conducting slow investigations.

“The DPP should intervene and ensure independent and speedy probe into the case,” the family lawyer told journalists on Monday.

A key suspect in the probe, David Mwai allegedly died at Parklands police cells last week.

Mwai is said to have been paid and allegedly pulled the trigger on Mukhtar.

Police investigation state that Mwai had confessed to having been paid and sent to eliminate the former executive alongside his lawyer.

The Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has since taken over the matter which is now being handled by the homicide department.

This comes as the family seeks police protection on the basis that the case has attracted public attention and that some people might want to harm them.
