The Nation reports that some of the gory images, of dead bodies slumping over tables, have found their way to the ‘auctioneer’s hammer’.

According to the paper, photographer Kabir Dhanjiis selling the images at Sh50, 000 per photo on Getty Images.

The revelation will be a shocker to Kenyans who went hammer and tongs on the New York Times paper for having the guts to publish such gory images.

Many newsrooms have clear editorial guidelines on not publishing photos of victims in such circumstances as terror attacks, rape among others where such photos can lead to stigma or affect the family.

The dead must be left to rest in peace, Isaac Sagala, a media trainer once told reporters.

New York Times has since said that the storm caused by its decision to publish the photos has seen a need to review its editorial guidelines.

“To give you a sense of how difficult these decisions are, there are people in the newsroom who felt in retrospect that we shouldn’t have run the Nairobi photo,” the paper said.
