Addressing the press in Kitui town on Thursday, Ngilu said MPs linked to bribery should not be left to walk scot-free.

She said it is shameful that MPs can demand and take bribes on sensitive matters of national importance.

The Narc governor said allegations of bribery are tainting the war against corruption.

“The DPP should go after the MPs who are said to have taken bribes and arraign them in court,” Ngilu said.

Ngilu said MPs are supposed to lead as examples since they are the lawmakers.

“It is unfortunate that they are disobeying and contravening the laws they make,” she added.

The Kitui Governor asked Kenyans to be vigilant and not to entertain leaders who are corrupt.

Some MPs are on the spot after claims emerge that they allegedly pocketed between Sh10,000 and Sh30,000 bribes to oppose the sugar report tabled in parliament on contraband sugar last week.

Several MPs have been quoted claiming that they witnessed their colleagues take the bribe.

Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi now says he has invited relevant agencies to probe the bribery allegations.
