Kisii Governor James Ongwae has urged Coca-Cola Company management to re-open their Kisii branch which was closed.
Ongwae speaking on Friday during the launch of the Coca-Cola Kuza Kazi enterprise programme in Kisii said the closure of the company has negatively affected people and the county's economy.
"Several people were rendered jobless and the tax which was being generated from the sale of sodas was lost due to the closure of the company. My government is engaging Coca-Cola company management to consider re-opening the company," he said.
The county boss said there is a shortage of sodas in the Kisii region after the company closed down Kisii branch.
"Small-scale retail businesses are no longer making a profit since the supply of sodas is low in Kisii. Once the company will re-open our youths will get back their jobs and traders to have plenty of sodas to sell," he added.
He assured that his government will work closely with the management to revive the operations at the Kisii Bottlers encouraging investors to feel free to set up businesses in the county.
"Investors should feel free to set up businesses in the county since my government has provided a conducive business environment" he stated.
