The “Total man” as most people knew him was a man you didn’t have to joke with.

Nobody would dare cross his line.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is among those who tasted his wrath, and will never forget the experience.

In 2006, President Kenyatta got engaged in a political fight with Biwott over the control of KANU, but Uhuru lost to Biwott.

President Uhuru then opted to join alliances with the opposition leader Raila Odinga’s ODM-Kenya party.

ODM-Kenya was seeking a strong candidate to challenge Kibaki for presidency in the 2007 elections.

Uhuru lost control of KANU having been defeated by Kibaki in the 2002 elections.

Some members of KANU agreed to join Raila with Uhuru, while others opposed this move being led by Biwott.

By then, Biwott had the backing of the former president Moi.

Biwott replaced Uhuru and Ruto as KANU chairman and Secretary General after they went behind his back to acquire new registration for a new KANU.

This move almost ended their political careers were it not for the National Assembly Speaker, Francis Ole Kaparo, who maintained that Uhuru should keep his position as the opposition leader despite being removed from KANU.
