Kitui High Court Judge Lilian Mutende is receiving treatment in a Nairobi hospital after she was involved in an accident.
According to Citizen Digital, the judge was involved in an accident on Monday along Kitui-Machakos road.
The accident which happened at Syongila area was confirmed by Kitui Police Commander Johanna Tonui.
Tonui said that the judge's car collided head-on with a 14-seater matatu.
The judge and her driver who sustained injuries were rushed to Kitui level four hospital before being referred to Nairobi.
Tonui said that the judge was in a stable condition and complained of chest and head pains.
"The two vehicles collided head-on after the driver lost control, the Matatu was heading to Kanyonyoo from Kitui. The judge complained of head and chest pains, she was rushed to Kitui general hospital amenity ward where she was admitted and later on transferred to Nairobi while in stable condition," the police boss said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Vehicles involved in the accident were towed to Kitui police station and investigations into the accident have commenced.
"We are still investigating the cause of the accident, the drivers will help us in the investigations," Tonui said.
