Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi's presidential shots have hitherto remained unsuccessful. However, he seems to be a suitable presidential candidate come 2022.
Musalia Mudavadi entered political arena as Sabatia MP in 1989. He has also held many government positions.
His first presidential shot was in 2007 where he sought ODM nomination but lost to Raila Odinga. He later supported Raila but they lost to Mwai Kibaki of PNU in the most disputed elections.
In 2013 elections, Mudavadi joined Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto of Jubilee coalition which brought together (UDF, URP and TNA) the trio signed a pre-election pact that was to oversee Uhuru stepping down letting Musalia be a presidential flag bearer. Uhuru and Ruto were to Marshall their supporters to vote for Mudavadi a deal that was thought to materialize and make Mudavadi the republic's fourth president.
Unfortunately, the pact was bleached prompting Mudavadi to contest independently on UDF ticket coming distant third after Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.
In 2017 general elections Mudavadi shelved his presidential ambition in support of Raila Odinga. He was a chief campaigner and he played a great role in the formation of NASA which gave Jubilee party a run of their money. Unfortunately, NASA lost to Jubilee Party in a contested election.
As 2022 is drawing nigh, many politicians have so far expressed their desires to lead this country, Musalia has also stated that his name will be on a ballot and he stands on better ground to be the next commander- in chief.
This is only if he plays his cards well by asking his 'friends' Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta to "return hand."
If Musalia successfully convinces the duo plus his own massive support from the Western side. He will undoubtedly be the next commander in chief. The ball is on his court.
