Residents of Nyambache village in Kiogoro, Kisii County were left in shock on Saturday morning after a body of a middle-aged man was found dangling from the roof of his house.
Area chief Benedict Orioro confirmed the death of Albert Ratemo.
The chief noted that Ratemo's body was discovered by a neighbour who went to check on him.
"Ratemo failed to wake up and go to his neighbour's farm where he works. The neighbour went to check on him only to find his body hanging from the roof of his house at the sitting room," said the chief.
He regretted increased cases of suicide in the region saying members of the public faced with life challenges should seek guidance from local church leaders.
His body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital morgue for preservation waiting for burial.
"Police officers have launched probe to establish the reasons why the deceased ended his life since he did not even leave behind a note explaining his decision to commit suicide," Kisii Police Commander Martin Kibet.
