A tenant was attacked by her landlord on Monday evening at Amasago village in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County over careless dumping of garbage.
The victim, Dolvine Nyanchama, a single mother of three said she had returned from Keumbu market where she hawks sugarcane when the landlord attacked her.
"I live in the rented house with my three kids. My landlord stormed my house at 7 pm and claimed that my eldest child had dumped garbage outside and when I asked him to show me where the garbage was so that I can collect it, he descended on me with kicks and blows," she told Egesa FM.
According to her, were it not for the landlord's wife, she could have been dead.
"The landlord's wife rescued me from the jaws of death. He bit my fingers and I am in serious pain at the moment. I want justice," she stated.
She was treated at Keumbu Level Four Hospital and discharged.
Kisii Police Commander Martin Kibet said the landlord who went into hiding after the attack is being hunted down.
"The attacker is at large after the victim reported the matter to Keumbu police officers. He will be arrested and charged with assault," Kibet noted.
