Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Dr Alfred Mutua has said he fully supports the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking moments after a brief meeting with Odinga at his Capitol Hill office on Wednesday, Mutua said the handshake has changed the lives of millions of Kenyans.
He divulged that he was the first one to call and congratulate him for the decision to work with President Kenyatta.
“Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga confirmed that I was the first leader to call him and congratulate him for the handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta. Myself and the party I lead, Maendeleo Chap Chap, have supported the handshake from the word go.
"We have done so because we see the bigger picture which in a nutshell is political stability which is a prerequisite for economic growth, wealth and employment creation for our people,” read part of his message.
Governor Mutua said he informed the opposition leader of his plans to ascend to power in 2022, adding that he is hopeful that Raila will back him for the nation’s top seat as he seeks to outsmart Deputy President William Ruto.
