Telecommunications giant Safaricom suffered a network outage on Saturday evening, leading to an uproar among social media users who subscribe to its services.
Customers complained about not being able to access some of its services including mobile money transfer services, purchasing internet bundles and making phone calls.
The company was forced to issue a statement explaining what the problem was in a bid to assuage the concerns of Kenyans.
The statement came late at night at about 11:00 p.m.
In its statement, the firm admitted that there were issues with its network and promised to address the issues.
"Please note that we are experiencing intermittent network challenges that are affecting a number of our services in our network including voice and data for some of our customers. We are working to restore all services as soon as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience, " the Safaricom correspondence to its customers read.
Safaricom is one of the biggest telecommunications companies in Kenya and commands a huge market share in spite of competition from other companies.
Kenyans subscribe to its services due to its network coverage and diverse portfolio of services.
