One person lost his life on Friday evening after his vehicle was involved in an accident along Thika-Garissa road.
The middle-aged man who was not identified immediately was a driver of a personal car that collided head-on with a lorry at Kavenge area in Masinga, Machakos County.
The accident was confirmed by Masinga sub-county Police Commander, Francis Siror.
He observed that the driver of the car was heading to Matuu from Kithyoko before he met his death.
He said that the car's driver died on the spot but the lorry's driver escaped unscathed.
Siror noted that the driver of the private car lost control of the vehicle and veered off to the other side of the road.
"The corolla car driver was coming from Kithyoko heading to Matuu while the lorry was heading to the opposite direction and on reaching the scene, the driver was unable to control it and collided with the lorry," said Siror.
He urged drivers to avoid being distracted while on road and adhere to traffic rules.
The body of the deceased driver was moved to Matuu Mediance mortuary.
The two vehicles involved in the accident were towed to Masinga Police Station.
