When she accompanied Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho during his tour of Rift Valley region over the weekend, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko made a daring revelation.
The ODM lawmaker who actively participated in Likoni political campaigns in 1997 and 2002, said she was dumped by her husband after she joined politics.
Mboko vied for Likoni parliamentary seat in 2007 and lost in party nominations which she said were marred by irregularities.
She would later in March 4, 2013 general elections, successfully be elected Mombasa Woman Representative and later Likoni MP on August 8, 2017.
Addressing residents in West Pokot County on Sunday, Mboko said her husband left her because she was always "on the move".
"Kamket (MP) has enabled me to set foot in Pokot land. I will not go back empty handed," she said.
"I was once married from our side but my husband said I was always on the move, every other time on the move because of politics, so we separated," she added on Saturday August 26.
Mboko exuded confidence that she would get a husband again from the Pokot community.
"I know Pokots are naturally runners. They like being on the move, every time they are just on the move. With that, can you not handle me?" said the lawmaker, sending residents into laughter.
Her statement inks with what her Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa revealed.
Jumwa disclosed she left her husband after he tried to block her from pursuing politics.
The ODM lawmaker, former Kilifi County Woman Representative, seeks to succeed Governor Amason Kingi in 2022.
