The former Vice President, who was speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, also accused parliament of doing too little to initiate checks and balances on national debt.

"Currently we are facing at a debt of Sh5.1 trillion because Jubilee is borrowing unchecked and the parliament has gone to bed with it," he said.

"Parliament should interrogate reports published by the national debt office published and protect the interest of Kenyans," he said adding that some of the debt taken, the public through Parliament did not have knowledge "as the reports written on the debts are in big vocabularies they do not understand".https://mobile.nation.co.ke/news/politics/Mudavadi-faults-State-over-heavy-borrowing-/3126390-4863830-a8ru5u/index.html.

Lately, the president has come under pressure from a section of Kenyans over his continued borrowing from China, which analysts claim that could sink the economy of the country.

On fight against corruption, Mudavadi said more needs to be done to ensure indiscriminate prosecution of those linked to looting of national resources.

Mr Mudavadi dismissed the idea of joining government after latest appointment of his allies Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga, insisting that he's keen to impose checks and balances as an opposition leader.
