Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has broken his silence over the newly enforced Michuki rules.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page on Saturday morning, Kuria said Probox and Sienta vehicles should be allowed to operate as Public Service Vehicles (PSV).
Kuria said he supports Michuki rules which were recently enforced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i but called for proper implementation of the same.
He noted that Probox and Sienta vehicles were not in operation when the Michuki law was drafted, adding that there is a need for the law to be reviewed to allow inclusion of the operators.
"I do support the enforcement of traffic rules in a drive launched by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i but as MP's, we can craft laws to allow proper implementation of the regulations," he said.
He challenged lawmakers to amend the law in Parliament, adding that the MPs should stop talking a lot in public and instead draft a law to licence Probox and Sienta vehicles as PSVs.
The MP noted that once the law has been passed, it will be handed over to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and CS Matiang'i for implementation.
"Police are doing a good work, but we (Members of Parliment) have to sit down and pass new laws to license Probox and Sienta vehicles, then give the rules to Matiang'i and Boinnet and they will follow," he added.
