Former World Boxing Association middleweight champion Conjestina Achieng will be making her come back into the ring sooner than expected.
The World Boxing Champion is currently under treatment at the Eden House Group Rehabilitation Center in Diani.
Intervention of Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko saved her life after Kenyans on social media shared her deteriorating health last year.
Having received good health care under Sonko’s team, Congestina confirmed that she would love to make a comeback into the ring as it’s what she lives for.
“Ningependa kuambia wakenya malkia ya masumbwi anarudi tena.. boxing is my career, hakuna siku ntasema nitawaachia siwezi acha katikati. (I'd like to tell Kenyans that the queen of boxing is going to make a comeback…Boxing is my career and I will never abandon this course," said Conjestina Achieng as quoted by Citizen.
The 41-year-old is recovering very well. If all goes as planned by her doctors, she will make her first appearance in March to curtain raise for Fatuma Zarika, the World Boxing Council Champion.
Congestina was transferred to Diani in January from Nairobi where she had been receiving treatment after being airlifted from her home in Siaya.
