Chaos erupted on Thursday in Nyamira town, Nyamira County after angry bodaboda riders roughed up a taxi driver who forcibly parked his car at their stage.
Sebastian Orero accused the taxi driver Albert Kimasu for displacing him at the bodaboda stage.
"Kimasu forcibly parked his car at a space preserved for boda boda riders. He removed my motorbike to park his car. I informed my colleagues who upon questioning Kimasu who responded rudely prompting to the scuffle," said Orero.
Mr Orero faulted the taxi driver for disrespecting riders.
"Kimasu insulted us saying we don't bath. He was roughed up before county askaris came to his rescue," he added.
One of the county askaris who identified himself as Amenya said the taxi driver could have been beaten to death.
"We rescued Kimasu since the riders threatened to kill him. Taxi drivers should stop parking at areas preserved for boda boda riders," he said.
Amenya urged motorists to respect one another while at work.
"Unnecessary fight won't help us in any way. Motorists are hereby advised to adhere to the set rules to avert chaos," he added.
