Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement ODM party leader Raila Odinga has weighed in on the Likoni Ferry tragedy that claimed the lives of a lady and her daughter.
Speaking on Saturday at the Likoni Ferry crossing where the efforts to retrieve bodies are ongoing, the former Prime Minister said that he had condoled the husband of Mariam Kighendi.
He called on the blame game that has been going on in the wake of the tragedy to end and the discourse to focus on recovering the bodies.
"Now is not the time to apportion blame, now is the time to try to retrieve the bodies of those unfortunate Kenyans," the ODM leader said.
Mariam Kighendi and her daughter Amanda Mutheu perished at the Likoni Channel on Sunday evening after their car rolled back and plunged into the waters.
Recovery efforts which entered their fourth day Saturday have not yielded much with a Swedish scuba diver bailing out after his attempts at locating the sunken car came to nought.
The Kenyan government has come under increasing pressure over what a section of Kenyans sees as the sluggish nature of the recovery operation.
A number of factors have been blamed on the somewhat slow pace including poor visibility and strong currents underneath.
