Opposition activist Miguna Miguna now claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta is the force behind the poisonous sugar import.
In a tweet on Wednesday, the former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant linked the head of state to the issue that has since culminated into a scandal.
He also implicated the President and his deputy William Ruto in the many graft scandals that have seen the nation lose billions of taxpayer’s money, accusing them of looting the nation of its resources.
He, however, noted that the copper and mercury stained sugar and the massive public fund theft are not the real issues, saying that it is time Kenyans prevented such in the future by uprooting the two from power.
‘’Kenyans must STOP mourning over tea, coffee and latte we can no longer sip because Uhuru Kenyatta and his racketeers are selling poisoned sugar to us. Stop mourning over billions the UhuRuto looting machine has robbed us of. Stand up and revolt! Remove the demagogues from power,’’ he advised.
The allegations, however, come at a time when Uhuru has been in the frontline in advocating for a graft-free nation and has, among others, proposed a lifestyle audit test to tame the vice.
He has also given the relevant bodies the go-ahead to investigate the sugar issue, even proposing charges against his brother Muhoho Kenyatta who has been mentioned in the saga.
