Kenyan problems cannot be solved through plebiscites or elections, former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commissioner Roselyn Akombe has noted.

The Nyamira-born outspoken former commissioner fled the country days to October 2017 repeat presidential elections, cuting security concerns among other things.

In a hard tackling tweet, Akombe, who is under pressure to run for Nyamira gubernatorial seat despite her absence, observed that rich politicians will always compromise electoral body or rig elections to deprive people their will.

"Referendums and elections cannot address our issues when the billionaires ...have the money to rig elections, compromise the electoral bodies and pay Cambridge Analytica millions of dollars to misinform and distract Kenyans."https://twitter.com/DrRoselynAkombe/status/1057612627650768896?s=19.

She was complimenting a column on The Daily Nation by Mr. Njoya which explained why the country is not ready for elections.

Ms. Akombe, who was born in Nyakeore, was an alumni of prestigious Nyabururu Girls and the University of Nairobi where she did her undergraduate degree in education.

A group of youth leaders from Nyamira, led by Borabu Youth Network's Carolyne Nyamoita, recently pointed out that Akombe is 'model governor' for the county.

"We have seen little or no progress since the inception of devolution. Akombe is perfect to be our governor if our people change mentality. We shall formally ask her to run," she said.

Among those expected in the race to succeed Governor John Nyagarama include Timothy Bosire, Ben Momanyi, Erneo Nyakiba and Walter Nyambati.

Currently, Nyagarama is battling in the Supreme Court with Nyambati, who filed a petition challenging his 2017 victory.

And with Akombe's latest jibe on the country's electoral system, it's much unlikely that she would run for an elective seat.
