A top lawyer has said President Uhuru Kenyatta has the capacity to prevent his Deputy William Ruto from taking over the country's leadership as Kenya's fifth president.
Through his Twitter handle, lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi however, said the plan must be calculated in a manner that it disorganizes Ruto's campaign machinery completely that the DP will find it had to market himself to Kenyans.
"Can HE Uhuru Kenyatta or anybody stop Hon Deputy President William Ruto from becoming Kenya's 5th president? But only through a strategy of mutually assured destruction in which no one survives," he tweeted.
Leaders from Jubilee Party's top organs are presently divided over whether the party should support Ruto's State House bid or not.
Whereas others are firmly in support of the DP, some MPs, especially from Mt Kenya region, are against the idea and their rejection claims of the former Eldoret North MP has fueled divisions within the ruling party.
Among those who have publicly declared they will not support Ruto's State House bid include Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu and Jubilee Vice Chairman and Uhuru's point-man David Murathe.
