Speaking on Wednesday, the parliamentarian added that the party leadership under opposition leader Raila Odinga is equally stable and well prepared for future elections.

However, he noted that the party has some small internal problems which need to be urgently addressed, to avoid making it hard for it to prosper in the 2022 general elections.

"Kwa wafuasi wetu, ODM iko imara na uongozi uko sawa lakini tuko na shida kidogo kidogo lakini tutarekebisha (the party is having some small issues but we are strong and our leadership is stable. We will address the shortcomings)," he said.

Wanyonyi was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Wednesday evening.

He noted that failure to address the issues might cause the party to experience a repeat of its recent defeats in the Ugenya and Embakasi South by-elections in April.

"Tutarekebisha ili tusichapwe katika uchaguzi unaokuja (we will address them to avoid defeat in the upcoming election)," he added.

The party has been experiencing a few issues lately, including scenarios where some members have been seen to join rival sides, a good example being Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa who appears to have joined Deputy President William Ruto's camp.
