Nairobi MCAs have threatened to impeach the Nairobi Governor if he continues operating from his Mua home in Machakos.

The MCAs say it is unconstitutional for the Nairobi governor to run the county affairs in another county.

The city MCAs also accuse Sonko of tactfully delaying appointing his deputy, nine months after the seat was left vacant.

The two weeks ultimatum issued to Sonko lapses on Tuesday next week, and the governor remains defiant that he will not move from his Mua home to City Hall.

Political analyst Danstan Omari now says that Governor Sonko should trade carefully with the MCAs.

The analyst noted that the MCAs could easily impeach the Nairobi governor.

“He (Sonko) should be easy and find ways of working with his MCAs to avoid being impeached,” he said on Thursday at the Milimani Law Courts.

Omari observed that Sonko’s latest move to suspend four senior county officials over alleged insubordination after they issued a contrary statement regarding the Pumwani infants saga could be the last nail on his political 'coffin'.

He said that the impeachment of Nairobi Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi should be a wake-up call to Sonko that all is not right.

Governor Sonko has rubbished the impeachment threats by MCAs stating that he is not afraid and is only accountable to Nairobians.
