Ahead of the elections, one Member of Parliament (MP) in Luo Nyanza must be a worried man due to voting patterns in his Constituency.

Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi should be burning the midnight oil trying to strategies on how to retain his seat given the fact that no MP has served for two consecutive terms in the constituency, since 1992.

Otieno Mak’Onyango was elected on a Ford Kenya ticket as Alengo Usonga MP in 1992.

He served for only one term as residents elected Peter Oloo Aringo as their MP in 1997 on the NDP ticket.

In 2002, Samuel Arthur Weya was elected on the National Alliance Rainbow Coalition ticket, before being replaced by Edwin Ochieng Yinda of ODM in 2007.

In 2013, George Washington Omondi Muluan was elected on Stephen Kalonzo’s Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) Party before being replaced by Atandi of ODM in 2017.

Before 1992, Peter Oloo-Aringo served as Alego Usonga MP for four consecutive terms from 1974, which means he served Alego Usonga as MP for five terms in total.

Since his election in August 2017, Atandi has proved to be vocal and proven defender of ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

However, the voting trends in his Constituency maybe giving him sleepless nights ahead of 2022.
