Miriam Marete, who spoke exclusively to NTV, lashed out at the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) for what she called negligence, saying that no substantive progress had been made in trying to recover the bodies of the occupants of the sunk car.

She said the family had been told that a diver would be brought to recover the bodies but the diver had not yet been brought.

"There are no actions here. It's like everything is gone off. We have been here since morning but there is nothing going on. We have been told that the diver has gone to be brought but till now we have seen nothing (hatujaona chochote), "Miriam Marete said

She made a claim that many may find unsettling; that it is the family that will pay the diver and not KFS.

She said the husband of the woman in the sunk vehicle had provided a car so that the diver can be brought to the scene of the tragedy, but no progress had been made so far.

KFS, in a statement on Sunday said investigation had been launched to establish the circumstances of the tragedy.
