The athlete from Western Kenya finished the race in 30 minutes and four seconds (30:04:42), making the win his seventh in the history of the Kenya Police Cross Country race.

The two times World Cross Country champion attributed his win to hard work and determination.

"It feels great winning my seventh title here. It might have looked easy but I worked hard for it," Kamwowor said.

The record holder said that a win in most of the local races will be a direct ticket of participation in major Olympic games given that this is a busy year for the athletes.

He aims at defending his record title at Gdynia, Poland on March 29. He is also hoping to participate in Tokyo Olympic games scheduled for July 24 to August 9, 2020.

Joseph Boit of Presidential Escort Unit finished in second place 10 seconds later, followed by Hosea Kimosop of General Service Unit (GSU) who finished third clocking 30:25.61.
