Nairobi-based lawyer Donald Kipkorir has suggested that buildings should only be approved with names of an architect on them.
According to Kipkorir, this will hold architect and engineers liable in case their buildings collapse.
"In Europe & US, every house, building or public project has name of the Architect & Engineer involved for professional liability .. Collapse of Precious Talent School should be a wake up call .. No building, even a kiosk should be approved without an Architect & Engineer on it," she said in a tweet, Monday.
The flamboyant lawyer was reacting after a classroom collapsed killing seven pupils, while others, more than 60 sustaining injuries at Precious Talent Academy in Ng’ando area along Ngong Road.
The two storey building collapsed at around 6.45 am on Monday morning.
Injured pupils were taken to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment. Most of them sustained cuts and fractures.
The government, through its spokesman, Colonel Cyrus Oguna said that it will cater for the expenses of the pupils injured.
Residents and parents have blamed the school for negligence.
They said they had warned the school about the building but no action had been taken.
