Former Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo has said that the country needed a handshake because the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government was allegedly leading the country in the wrong direction.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on NTV’s AM Live show, Midiwo said that it is only through the handshake that the country could realise a change in the governance system.
The former lawmaker said that he fully supports the handshake between Uhuru and Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
He opined that Jubilee had ascended to power after allegedly rigging the election, adding that the government did not have the people's interests at heart when it comes to service delivery.
"The reason why we needed the handshake is because we were being led in the wrong direction. Jubilee was in power through a stolen election," he said.
The vocal politician also said that the leaders and the general public should not relent in the quest to make Kenya a better place.
Midiwo also noted that it is the collective responsibility of all leaders to ensure we attain our goals as a nation.
“I think we need to spare no effort in an attempt to keep bettering our nation. It is not a big deal,” he added.
