Despite hitting the gym three or more times a week, your belly still seems to grow and you wonder what the problem could be.
The thing is, exercise won't burn up your belly fat if you don't stop or limit eating the following foods:
1. Sweetened beverages
Sugar generally contributes to weight gain. Drinks like sodas, fruit juices with added sugar, sports drinks all contribute to belly fat. You can replace the above with water. Avoid too many cakes too.
2. Deep-fried foods
Deep-fried foods like potato chips are not only bad for your belly but also your heart's health. Too much fat in the body could cause cardiovascular diseases. The fat accumulates in your tummy giving that look that you hate.
3. Processed meats
Although sweet to the tongue, processed meats are bad for your belly. They are hard to digest hence they stay longer in the stomach and they are high in calories and saturated fats. An example is sausages.
4. Processed carbohydrates
Processed carbohydrates have also been found to contribute to excessive belly fat. The likes of white bread, pasta such as noodles and spaghettis could all make your belly grow.
5. Alcohol
Have you realised that people who drink beer have a lot of belly fat (what is locally known as 'kitambi')?Beers are high in calories but low in nutritional value. Too much of it will definitely make your belly grow.
