Ong'era said this during the Lake Region Economic Bloc summit that was held in Kisii, whose aim is to improve the people's lives in the region economically. She audaciously stated that the youths in the region needed to be developed, an initiative that would b success if the National government increased its budgetary allocations.

"There is a need for the national government of Kenya to increase its budgetary allocations for the youth projects to spur the Lake Region's economy." The women Rep said.

The 'iron lady' also emphasized healthy economic ties which must exist between the Lake Region Counties to ensure a sustainable and progressive economic growth in the region.

It has been rumoured in the recent past about Ong'era's political ambitions of becoming the next Kisii Governor. A section of residents have endorsed the move while some have criticized. However, she has not declared her next political move, ahead of the 2022 elections showdown.

In the summit where the women Rep gave her speech, was graced by Devolution CS Eugine Wamalwa and other 13 Governors from the Lake Region, headed by their chairman, Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
