Deputy President William Ruto has no audacity to launch and monitor government projects across the country since it contravenes President Uhuru Kenyatta's executive order which delegated the duties to Dr Fred Matiang'i, an activist has said.
Despite the order, Dr Ruto has been launching various projects across the country including at Matiang'i's Nyamira backyard. The state of the projects has been questioned in the past since they drag for many years.
And Mr Ombori Monari, who chairs Abagusii community in the US, said over the weekend that Dr Ruto was continuously overstepping his mandate, a move that could confuse government operations.
"That he's launching projects yet he was banned. Let Ruto respect authorities. He doesn't have powers to launch projects. He doesn't have such allocations. He has economically zoned Kalenjins and here he is, cheating us that he is able to launch projects. It's Matiang'i who was assigned," he said.
In Executive Order early this year, Uhuru appointed Matiang'i as chairman of Cabinet Implementation and Communication sub committee which monitors and inspects government projects.
Abagusii Council of Elders chairman James Matundura lauded the move, saying that Dr Matiang'i was instrumental in making various government departments work.
“The community has had a vacuum in political leadership since the retirement of Simeon Nyachae. But the slow but sure rise of Fred Matiang’i, albeit from the technocratic wing, is now proving to be a good development for the Abagusii since he has proved that he can be relied on to carry the leadership mantle which has been lacking,” he said.
