Ibrahim Kullow, a driver attached to Tawakal Carriers, a local distribution company, is alleged to have been assaulted by police officers from Leheley police station, Wajir county.

Speaking to this writer from his hospital bed, Kullow said an officer at Leheley police check point had stopped him for routine inspection before they asked for a sh 500 bribe which he refused to give.

The alleged officer then picked an altercation with him before turning his AK 47 rifle, hitting him right on the head with the gun.

" The officer stopped my vehicle which I did. He then ordered that I show my driving licence which I complied before asking on what I was transporting.

"Thereafter, he told me to give sh 500 which I did not have. From there he picked a quarrel before hitting me on the head with the back of his AK 47 gun," Kullow revealed as he writhed in pain.

He is now asking the Independent Oversight Police Authority (IPOA) to take up the matter and bring the culprits to book.

Efforts to seek clarification from Leheley police boss proved futile as he was out on official duties.
