Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo on Thursday reacted to reports on social media that Governor Ferdinand Waititu had allegedly pledged to use county funds to sponsor a wedding.
The flamboyant politician, who is a great critic of Waititu’s government shared a post on his Facebook and Twitter accounts with the caption “I hope this is not true.”
The post had initially been shared by John Mugwe, a Facebook user.
“Kiambu County to spend money to sponsor wedding. A red carpet roll out. A governor podium flanked by CeC Youth while deputy governor hangs in the background. Great county government announcement. There will be a wedding which the county will sponsor. Meanwhile, in the last regime, there was Biashara fund with a kitty of 300 million shillings. It just disappeared,” posted Mugwe.
According to Mugwe, the wedding expenses would be catered for by the county government.
Residents came out to weigh in on the matter after Kabogo shared the post. Here are some of their reactions.
