The AU special envoy Raila Odinga is also expected to join President Uhuru Kenyatta to negotiate for Sh368B loan deal to complete the Naivasha-Kisumu Phase II of the SGR project.
In a Facebook post, moments to his departure, the ODM leader stated that he will advocate for the infrastructural development which shall embrace international standards.
"Departing for China to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation,
"I shall make the case for synergies in infrastructure planning and development by embracing international standards, fostering a favourable environment and predictability for private sector investment in infrastructure," read his Facebook statement.
On Saturday while attending a function in Kisumu, Raila revealed that he will accompany President Uhuru Kenyatta to negotiate the loan deal in order to fast track the completion of the second phase that will amount to Sh368B.
Kenya has been borrowing from China ever since the Jubilee government took over with the Kenyan taxpayer being burdened to repay the loan through high taxation.
Both leaders and Kenyans have cried foul of the loan deal asking the government to stop burdening the common citizens.
