President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated that his government is committed to supporting technical institutions in the country. Speaking on Tuesday at State House, Nairobi, Uhuru said that the future of this nation lies in education, adding that he is ready to go an extra mile to establish more technical institutions to make his dream a reality at the end of the day.

“That was the dream of our founders. We lost it somewhere when we all came and started believing that the future was in everybody having a degree," he said in a post on Facebook from Statehouse Kenya.

The head of state noted that the institutions are geared towards the creation of jobs in different parts of the country. He argued that these institutions offer learners a chance to get skills that they can use in the near future to empower themselves in different areas of life.

“But the truth of the matter is that the bulk of the jobs that are available for our people is through the use of the talents that they have. That is why we have put a huge emphasis on TVET to give our people the skills needed to satisfy the employment requirements of the 21st Century. This is where we must invest,” the President added.
